Will AI Really Change the Industry?
Will AI really change the industry?
In South Africa, I am still skeptical about how quickly this will happen. I feel like we are still experiencing slow development compared to other parts of the world.
But at the same time, a lot of people are scared of AI.
The Race Is About Who Uses AI Best
I always tell people to use every obstacle as a stepping stone. Right now, we shouldn’t be afraid of what AI threatens. We should find a way to use it to the best of our abilities.
We might be entering a race of who can use AI the best.
If you can use AI to build working projects that solve real-world problems, I believe you are starting to master it and are on the right path.
There are people using AI as diaries or whatever(not very useful things), and there are people using AI almost like an employee to help them build or tutor to help them learn. These people are different. They simply have the same tool but use it differently.
I Learned by Building With AI
I can attest to this myself.
I am 20 years old, and I have built successful websites and automation systems. At first, all I had was ChatGPT. Then I was introduced to Gemini and other AI tools, and it went further from there.
What helped me most was research. I wanted to understand what these models could actually do, so I kept testing them and learning their capabilities. Bit by bit, I learned how to use AI to build real projects.
AI Is More Than Copy and Paste
And I am not talking about AI-generated copy-and-paste slop.
I mean using AI through the entire development process:
- Researching a problem
- Designing a solution
- Writing code
- Debugging
- Testing
- Improving the product
- Deploying it
- Getting feedback
- Repeating the process until the project works
The Real Value of AI lies on how you use it.
Today, I am not even ashamed of my CV. In fact, I am proud of what I have been able to build with the tools available to me.
I urge everyone reading this to not see AI as the enemy, but as the tool that will improve our productivity.
